As an adult and responsible member of American society and citizen, who, upon the shoulders of my now departed elders, thought all would be positive smooth sailing towards harmony, especially after Barack Obama was elected our President in 2008, I never thought I’d now see the days when so many people who look grown-up in body, act like spoiled brat children!  What planet did these alien imposters come from?!

For example, a man stubbornly arguing with a cashier, who is barely making it via hourly wages, because he cannot find his favorite oversized bottle of scotch on the liquor store shelf. When she offers that he can obtain it at another store only 4 miles away, he digs-in and shouts, “But I don’t wanna drive across the river!” like a five year-old (its not like he had to pay a toll or anything). Or someone lashing-out in public after asked to wear a mask like everybody else is, in the middle of a public health plague. Since circa 2016/2017, more who should know better, seem in the business of denying issues already socially and legally settled in the past or are trying to change/re-write factual history with a kind of “witchful thinking” spin.

I can add any number of more silly things since 2016 that I’ve heard outbursts of angst about, if they can’t have their immediate way.

What’s going on?  What happened that big people in size whine when unable to sway?  Is it that too many dropped out of school?  Or too many of generations younger than mine did not complete their educations without any penalty (getting left-back) or incentive from parents or legislative society? And I’m just addressing high school diplomas, never mind college or the university, since it was the norm for my age-group 40 and 50 years ago, which is important equally! Or is it, as Sly of The Family Stone sang, the result of “Babies Makin’ Babies”? (Yes)  Is it the result of the mental laziness perpetuated by this internet “super highway”? (yes and probably all of the above)

I mean…this is really sad and must change for the better if we are to survive, defend our country from those who want to take over the land (from within and across the seas)!  Where are the adults?  At least we have a grown-up President now instead of the childish, name-calling, immature previous occupant of our White House. Geez, people!

I know we still have grown-ups among us and they are beginning to become engaged again.   I admit that back during the late 1960s- early 1970s days, I “tuned-in, turned-on and dropped out” for the cause we all embodied; from the civil rights movement and Dr. Martin Luther King, et al, to anti-Vietnam war protests, however with time comes awakening and engagement on a higher plane of realities and that is where we Baby Boomers are now, whether you have offspring or not!  My parents wouldn’t have stood for this kind of this boorish behavior. I can hear them admonish sternly, “Control Yourself!” if we acted-out in public. In my opinion, and that of many, this is where the lack of corporal punishment has also taken its toll.

And I must also vent that when it comes to sex these days, the scammy behavior to meet someone new, runs rampant due to the clandestine nature of internet dating! It is difficult enough to meet a potential lover in-person due to the Covid-19 plague and so you want to go outside the box? Well, one cannot even post an advert online for a specific type of “soul mate”, without receiving replies from people who don’t even closely fit the description, sending off-the-mark photos, and who invariably must have a scam Pimp behind the scenes, as they lay the foundation for a near-future money ask. Never give!

It is time to make sure American society leads the world again in intelligent behavior!

Just like in a company, where the employees reflect the personality of the CEO, so goes a nation or country, IMO.
Hearing about more terrible acts of gun violence, antisemitism and racial intolerance in-general these days is directly related to the individual who is, unfortunately, the current “CEO” of our country, The United States of America, residing in our “White House”.

Every American should own one of these. Just call and they will send you one!

As a general rule, I intentionally steer clear of polity here, but my diary is exploding with the need to carry this cautionary educational message for our last post of 2019.

Like the late American President Ronald Reagan’s “trickle-down economics”, so goes the behavior of our country morally, socially, attitudinally and emotionally. Not saying all of us are so influenced – we who have education, independence and individuality enough to make our own decisions don’t quickly fall under the spell of the “soup-of-the-day” – but many people who erroneously feel their voices aren’t heard, do drink the (spiked with hate) cool-aid.

This individual of whom I speak has no shame; when he is wrong in thought, word or deed, always finds someone else to blame – like Adolph Hitler did. His absence of character staidness has filtered dangerously into pockets of our populace, similar to how a cult would.

His recreant attempts to somehow bend the traditional and established norms of the office he and his contrivers misinformed groupies into casting electoral votes for and acts in depredation of our Constitutional rules terrorize our very way of life over the six decades that I have been alive and beyond. It is as if the late Alabama Governor who stood in the doorway of educational institutions to deny black students entry in order to preserve segregation has been reincarnated into a slightly slicker, taller version! Without shame, lying and then lying again as a spoiled child would when caught red-handed time and time again, while querulous about the press (aka “media”) he is at the very least pernicious to our civil discourse among a diverse nation of people. He doesn’t know when to belt-up!

Fantasy: I wish I could run for president so I could beat him! Reality: Yet, I am too much an imperfect human being, and in this climate of looking up candidate’s assholes, those willing to take me down would find some shit they would try to wipe my face with. Therefore, I feel that something/someone else will have to happen to save us “normal” educated majority masses from this dictator wannabe. Denial never solves; it makes it worse. This guy plans to campaign for another term with soiled underwear showing through his pants, without compunction about his repulsive smell, because he refuses to wipe his own behind.

He can’t wipe enough!

The solution is to elect a leader who speaks not in 140-character “tweets”, but to us all with televised speeches and with the traditional “weekly radio address”, eloquently, teaching and uniting upon the civil manners, mores and etiquette-based values of yore. Too much contentious nonsense with this guy; time for a return to compromise and civility in America. Even with the few things that disappointed me about President Obama, I know that we were a happier country during his two terms and neither Bush, Clinton, Bush the Father, Reagan nor Carter and their predecessors trampled upon our sacred U.S. Constitution like this guy is!

And that brings me to my Word of The Year for 2019:

Every time I turned around this past year, from the time my Charleston, South Carolina Wando landlord sought to not renew my lease in early spring, for reasons which are still a mystery, I found myself thinking or uttering aloud, “TERRIBLE!”

*Relocating interstate into a falsely advertised house to find moldy, sickening air and an uncooperative property manager: “terrible!”
*Uncouth, embarrassing behavior by the so-called President alienating allies? “Terrible!”
*almost weekly reports of mass shootings of innocents and gun violence not seen in decades! “terrible!!”
*antisemitism rising to a level not seen since Hitler’s time. “Terrible!”
*Copy-cat violence and too many guns on city streets – “Terrible”
*Oh, did I mention the obstinate Property Manager? Yes, I did but he gets another “TERRIBLE”.
*Ageism making money hard to come by the longer you live? “Terrible”.
*Not being able to get back on the radio in the profession I loved and was very good at? “Terrible!”
*Watching senescent relatives aging and the breakdown of our human bodies with disease, is in many ways sad and…almost, ”terrible”.
*Corporate greed and the closing of brick and mortar stores: “terrible”.
*Increasing lack of human toll takers at bridges and tunnels and all those jobs lost? “Terrible!”
*Many loose nuts with mental illness running loose when they shouldn’t be, and causing harm to people? – “Terrible”
*Educational disconnect between generations born since 1999, which leads to the collective having to revisit atrocities we thought were settled and negative history repeating itself. “Terrible and tragic”.
*Housing construction codes so poor one can hear the flushed water of the tenant upstairs cascading inside the wall – gross and “Terrible!”
*People staying inside too much and watching too much video and television – especially the news – “terrible!”

We teeter on the edge of abysmal era where there is no punishment for obvious transgressions by an executive, if he can deny it long enough. – like Watergate in 1973. That would be truly terrible if it comes to pass. United we stand, divided we fall.

Please have a safe day and keep your head on a swivel while enjoying and having as much fun as possible, these troubled times due to a cheater who subverted our system to get into our White House.

Now that you’ve flipped-out and over my previous 45rpm record post, I hope you enjoyed side one from inside the basement boxes! Therefore, can I drop some current science reflections upon you now and then leave you to marinate upon them, until we meet in the New Year, 2018? …Good.

As we come to the end of 2017, I know I have not blogged as much as in previous years and in-fact, the fantasy of “blogging” being a money-maker is dead. I am struck by the many misinformed conversations I have heard this year from a dumbed-down populace, which began during the first President Bush administration of the United States of America, in the late 1980s.

~ At the risk of sounding intolerant of younger generations, like my parents did, I want to point-out a few things so that if any are reading this who need my enlightenment, they shall have some, lol

~ My generation, “Baby Boomers” of which my birth year is one of the last thereof, was educated better than the successive ones, which seem to have been distracted by so-called “advances” in technology. The standards of manners, self-control (without drugs), developmental punishment, adherence to societal norms, rules and authority on the family level were much higher in my formative years. This made for a better dream and pursuit of happiness. None of us are perfect, mind you, but we knew our boundaries and respected one another on a more fascinating level.

~ The point of this piece is to charge those who originally unleashed this technological “Genie” from the bottle, to educate yours and our youths to not be addicted to it, so much as they stroll down a sidewalk, into an intersection, oblivious to their surroundings and into their own peril!!

~ Often, I hesitate to engage or write, feeling it will do no good. With the so-called “leaders” we have in play, annellation is the nearest possibility, therefore my words fall upon deaf ears.

~ Also, many I encounter do not listen in polite conversations anymore. They only hear while formulating their reply and rudely interject it prior to the other party finishing their sentence or thought!
Just the other day, while having a quick bite at a local O’Charlies, I overheard a convo between two twenty- something women who sounded like jaded old bags. Their list of phobias and “cant’s” outpaced their “cans”!

~ Especially when it came to travel: one says, “After one drink, if I feel a buzz, I am calling a cab no matter how close to my house I am!” Whaa? The other one expresses how they are afraid to take an AMTRAK train, “Because they always derail!” Huh? To which the young bartender says, “Oh no, I’m not flying either, because you never know who you are flying with!” Yeah, that “logic” applies to all transportation modes and even on the Interstate, chick! SMH These young ladies are running out of options! It is very sad! If I didn’t see them, I would have thought they were two old ladies, older than I am! I should have recorded this. People have always had phobias, yet I’ve never heard them by twentysomethings and so adamantly expressed! What I overhear as I make my errands are too many individuals who are so misinformed, drive impatiently (and too fast), are undisciplined, selfish and ill-mannered.
Many people are overly sensitive these days due to misguided political correctness run amuck.

~ Most seem all to ready to turn the other cheek now. Nobody wants to complain in apathy that nothing will change unless it is scandalous or sordid like bogus reality TV! It is pathetic, because real human complaints are the seed of positive revolutionary change in society! Is anybody emphasizing learning in History class these days?

~ Political Correctness, and the lack of the “tough love” my generation received, plus the de-emphasis of measured corporal punishment (spankings) has produced an off-center, marginal generation of undereducated perverts, freaks, woodchucks and pseudo-criminal idiots who are unscrupulous and who we all should fear and take measures help or thwart proactively. how’s THAT for an “entitlement program” proposal?

~ About Geopolitical things: Did Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson or Nixon engage in a rank-out sessions with North Vietnam’s Ho Che Min during the Vietnam War? No! So why is this Trump guy doing it? All he does is legitimize an illegitimate regime via childish taunts! Who is advising this guy, if anyone? Trump’s first October as President began and ended with senseless violence against innocent citizens in Las Vegas and New York City. His presence has increased many people’s frustration and anger levels, dangerously. We have not been this close to war since the Cuban Missile Crisis in the early 1960s! Kim Jung and President Fake are like two of the slowest learning, Special Ed kids in the back of the classroom, continuously chattering insults at each other, while the rest of us are trying to learn.

~ There are some things we still do not know and that recent groups of events are waaay too coincidental regarding all of these “sexual” allegations and the fall of so many of our (my) favorite public/media/entertainment personalities here at the end of 2017.

Why now? Why all of a sudden? Why doesn’t President Trump step aside while they investigate or at least be called to testify before Congress and answer to the charges against him by these women, like President Clinton had to? Ego and him wanting to be the first American Dictator is why, and we know it.

~ Were the Hunters Captured by the Game in ALL of these relationships?? Hmmmm…

~ Continue the discourse! Not just the usual suspects (although I appreciate you), don’t be too shy to say something about how we can have a better 2018 and beyond by hitting the ground running on January 2nd!!!
This is a milestone year for me, personally and let it be for thee.

Happy New Year! May we all survive safely and in Peace on earth to do this again a year from now! Cheers.

I played this song while a afternoon fill-in DJ for the late Jerry Bledsoe on WWRL AM 1600 radio, New York City, the original Black American music station in the nation, circa 1983 after doing the 2AM – 6 AM shift on North Haven, Connecticut’s WKCI/KC101FM. I really never knew what this song was about until now – domestic violence, which they did not have a name for back then. Songs come and go sometimes when you are a radio personality. I guess I did not have time to analyze every lyric and message. Sometimes you just like the “sound” of the hook of a hit record, it seems to topically fit your personal experiences and it sticks.

“Too Late” by Junior is on par with and, in my mind, the follow-up to the SMASH hit, “Mama Used to Say”, IMO.
I am humbled and shocked by my naivete` not originally knowing what this song was about. Until a few minutes ago, I thought it was about unrequited love and the breaking up of two lovers! When I heard it in my musical jukebox mind and found it finally on YouTube, it was always about her being “too late” because I have moved-on to another relationship. Yeah, Right! As-if I always had that control, lol.
That was what I was all about in the early 1980s. If I’d really listened to the vamp, “I don’t have to stay with you, I can take the kids and go” I might have gleaned a more clean analysis. Such is life.
I am blown away that this song was so far ahead of its time, preceding the “OJ Simpson trial” and all of the ancillary offshoots that precipitated the lame and unecessary reality television of today that has contributed to the dumbing-down of America that now permeates every aspect of society, from how people drive their cars to our manners and morality. I wonder now, was this Junior’s experience, growing up?

I could/can never tolerate when a nice-looking lady told me her man “beat her up”. How cowardly! And I always say, “Just leave him!” Yet, curiously, in most cases they made excuses not to do so! WTF? If someone I was living with was violent, it would not take me a second heartbeat thought to get the f*** out! Yet, many women seem to think differently regarding this, despite the physical abuse and stay upon a bullshit excuse.

**PICKHITT: This can become an anthem for the “MeToo” movement.

When he comes home intoxicated from the club
All the kids they go and snuggle up to mom
He starts shoutin’ again, and they start runnin’ again
This ain’t no life for them to lead

In her mind she knows she has to let him go
In the children’s eyes she sees the fear inside
How does she tell him, he won’t take nothin’
This ain’t no life for them to lead

Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go

In the morning when he wakes up from the couch
Not recallin’ what had happened the night before
He starts askin’ questions, he don’t get no answers
What the hell’s goin’ on in here

Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go

Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to

She starts saying she can’t take it no more
When he comes home he always beats her to the floor
This old line she’s givin’, hey, about them leavin’
He can’t take it at all

But it’s too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye (I just got to let you know)
Now’s my time to go (Yeah, yeah)

Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye (Bye-bye)
Now’s my time to

Too late (Too late), too late, baby, bye-bye (Too late, yeah)
Now’s my time to go (I don’t want to be around you)
Too late, too late (I just got to take the kids and go), baby, bye-bye (Oh, no)
Now’s my time to go…”
