“Those without previous governing experience via public election need not apply, nor are eligible”
Its like any other job, if you do not have the experience, you cannot get hired!!
So what happened this last American election should serve as the major reminder to the electorate, Supreme Court of the United States of America and its legislative branches. Here yee, here yee: The most recent past election in 2016 should prove to all USA citizens that unless you have been elected and governed previously, you are unqualified to become elected to the highest office in the land, which is President. There should never again be a choice between “slim” and “none”. One reason that we do not get “great” candidates as in days past is because somehow, those covering them expect them to be “perfect” – and none of us are – getting into their pants! Yes, some transgressions should disqualify prior to Primaries. Last cycle, I am surprised the GOP didn’t dig-up the dirt on the reality TV candidate in order to expose him! I guess they just wanted to “win” at any cost to our national unity, trying to dumb-down the populace along the way.
Even the former Hollywood Actor, Ronald Reagan had been elected and served as the Governor of the great state of California prior to running for President of The United States. Let this be a warning to the “Oprahs” of the world: get some experience and do not be gloated into biting off much more than you can chew due to ego. I met Oprah at a nightclub called Stringfellows in New York City, circa 1990, and she impressed me as a snob. Might be nice to some, however I saw her boy, Steadman following dutifully a few steps behind her as opposed to being by her side as an equal. I was a radio personality in New York City at the time and she ignored me.
Whenever we have all of these “secret memos”, special prosecutors, marital infidelity against The First Lady, investigations into tampering, et al in the first year of a Presidency, impeachment hearings soon follow, as seen during my three score as a lifetime independent thinker.
Unlike any other position, the holder of the highest office in the nation of America, The United States, needs experience, self-control, maturity, coolness, a big-picture vision of the past, present and future peaceful planet in which we share with other nations and move forward in a spirit of help and unity to solve the difficult and unexpected decisions ahead. My ideal President is a war veteran, like my dad was or Colin Powell and Dwight Eisenhower and John F Kennedy, because in order to lead this nation into a war, you must have experienced the tragedy and human cost of it.
Vote for the favorite USA President of your lifetime or yore in the “comments”!
Since my fiancee`/Skype-mate freed me to be “me” in-conjunction with my social media comeuppance three years ago, I post many things to promote our plans and seek self-sufficiency sponsors. The following are from our recent London rendezvous notes. I pray that you, dear reader, have someone in your life that you feel similarly for as I do Inna, who inspired this trip and travel.
Monday, on the way across the Pond
I am “above the clouds” (a song) again and this time on Virgin Atlantic airlines, bound for London, England to rendezvous with my fiancée`, Inna who is coming in from Ukraine. Wow! Long-awaited and incredible; I hope I brought enough “pounds”! Basically, we own the next seven days.
[Then, I did not write a note for the next five days, so consumed with my lady, Inna, was I…]
Friday, 9:40am London time
Just returned to our flat and it is lonely London now, having seen Inna to the plane at Heathrow, early this morning. I felt so bad because she was in no shape to travel since coming-down with a head cold on the flight from Ukraine which got worse during our stay in London. I crash to sleep now for a few hours before I have to go and find the Big Bus Tour office and retrieve my camera case that they have so luckily found and saved for me. Too bad the same can’t be said for our cache of souvenirs from Piccadilly Square that we left at the Bond Street Tube station yesterday. Oh, well, I filed a report; maybe someone or a Tube worker found them and will notify me. This chick came from behind me and helped me out of my tourist confusion at the Tube turnstile on the way back to our flat. She too was Russian, ironically. Maybe Inna sent her? lol I smelled Inna’s perfume everywhere in-public after she left as the London winds reminded me.
I am reliving the special moments like when Inna brought my laptop to our bed Wednesday morning so she could play me some music videos by Lana Del Ray. Priceless!
Friday, circa 2:30pm London time (at Shakespeare Pub)
It is very complimentary and flattering to have someone from London tell me that they like my “American (English) accent”, when it is their country who invented it! I am at “Shakespeare” Pub, dining on their version of London’s famous “fish n’ chips” – a dish that reacquainted my diet with an old childhood staple, green peas! Simple yet delightfully health when steamed.
I think that clouds hover around England – always – I believe.
It is truly awesome that a country like this – on a big island – became so powerful! I always read about it in school and I love that Nina chose this location for us to meet-up. Just another reason I love her and she came into my life at the right time.
Now my next move is to relocate to a hotel within the Heathrow airport vicinity…Inna and our personal cab driver recommended this.
Friday evening, after 9pm London Time at Flynn’s Pub:
(Thinking) What I really hate about cell phone “plans” from all of these “providers” like T-Mobile is UNuniformity. Especially when you travel overseas! They seem to know when you land in another country, but do not give you any benefits that you had where you came from. MY android did not work (was “locked” even though I bought a “sim card” in London) for four days!
London gave me a new meaning to the American slang phrase, “Gimme a POUND!” lol Here is a brief (short) video about how better to solve the whole “no smoking in restaurants” issue!
Day Six in London
Saturday is “solo Saturday” for me near Heathrow. Having detached from our apartment in West Ealing (a really great choice for us to base from) gives me pause for the first time thinking of the future – missing her companionship and dreading the return to the grind of work back in New York City. I am still technically homeless – and this is the next hurdle I must $oon leap over.
As my luck would have it, a “major Gale” (wind storm with rain) approaches London as I stage to leave tomorrow…in the nick of time.
I am at Thistle Hotel Heathrow, a massive and expansive hotel which smells of mold. Its saving grace for me is its lounge which overlooks the airport where you can see the (mostly British Airways) planes take off. I partake of a brilliantly delicious “rump of lamb” which I wish Nina was with me to share. Tasty, tender and really scrumptious.
Sunday, Day seven in London, 4:52pm Heathrow…
Flight gate to be announced at 6:10pm; Hoping to lift-off ahead of the impending storm.
Solo, the lone ranger again, I am missing the companionship and proximity of Inna.
“More Impressions upon A Café` Skype Journey”
I happened to speak to a nice chap while in my final hours in London, who understood my story, or some such gleaned his was similar in that his beloved is from Thailand and he in London. “Why is it so difficult?” he asked, “When you want to marry, they should grant her the visa at once!” He said. It is encouraging to know of others in a similar situation. It is the quest of “Café` Skype” to soon overcome these hurdles to our love and togetherness in the same postal code.
Aboard a Majestic Virgin Atlantic Flight back to JFK
When you fly at night and look up out of your window seat, all you see is the stars – much closer they look!
Aboard Virgin US25 on my way back to ill NYC, I am calmer than expected with new urgency to attract big finances soon in order to offer Nina a chance at togetherness and comfort in The States. Living our dream and not someone else’s.
I knew I would tear-up and cry at some point, and it was at the end of the “Jack and the Beanstalk” movie, “Jack The Giant Slayer” that showed on the seat in front of me on the plane in-flight.
When I saw Jack and Isabella clasp hands and walk like Nina and I did so naturally in London, well…that was it for me being “strong”.
Pickhitt: I am now totally interested in any and all opportunities to live and work in London, U.K. Actively applying; hit me up, Mates, I’m flexible!
~ “Guv’na” Naphtali
This is my 100th blog post since beginning this wordy journey in November of 2009. A momentous occasion that I share with the Green Bay Packers’ victory on Super Bowl Sunday, so I will commemorate this occasion with some thoughts and realizations that are running through my brain, beginning with the question, WHY is PBS, NBC news and whoever else acting like one of our dead Presidents, Ronald Reagan, is still alive in the physical world? This blog is alive at one-hundred; Reagan is not. I don’t want the notariety – I give it to myself, lol. No other past President gets this treatment, and there are plenty who were better at it than Reagan in the modern era and historically in the USA! OMG. Why are they promoting “Ronald Reagan at 100” as if this, the first-ever real “acting President” (just another Hollywood role for him) is still around? WTF?
They don’t do this with John F. Kennedy, who was hands-down much better a President on his “birthday” – in fact I don’t even know when JFK’s birthday is, even though it is just an Ask.com search away; even Eisenhower was a better republican and President; how about Lyndon Johnson? Why not dig-up Nixon’s Capricorn birthday? How old is he now? Who appointed Ronnie Reagan the greatest President of all time? Silly network News Directors, that is who. This is television News Director bias, and it shows that with all the other stuff that we can “celebrate” about humanity, these people are unqualified for their jobs.
I LOVE the PBSNewshour btw; it is the best newscast and most non-sidetaking of all. That is why it is so bewildering for them to want to glorify a mediocre President like Reagan. Speaking of Presidents, having President Obama blend into the mediocrity of his predicessors in office proves one thing for sure: NO President, no matter the color of skin, gender or mindset can effect real change under the present circumstances and rules. Corporations, especially technological ones, are the real pushers of our collective “envelope”. Why? Term Limits. Once they were enacted, they sealed the fateful deal visa v “democracy”. Oh, sure, limits are wonderful if an asshole with dictatorial leanings is elected. However, if you get a genuinely good person who is popular with the majority of Americans, the system is “fixed” so that there is eventual gridlock guaranteed and the necessary time that a person would need to truly enact a new direction for the nation is not available. Why doesn’t anybody in the news organizations revisit that debate instead of trying to put a mediocre President on Mount Rushmore?
I remember Reagan most for breaking the air traffic controllers union, and starting us on a path of union-busting and industry deregulation that we are still paying for with something called unemployment! My late father used to say that “Reagan enacts laws upon the backs of those who can least afford them…” Prophecy fulfilled, Dad. Reagan ignored Black Americans and other minorities as if we would just “go away” magically. There are plenty of ordinary global citizens who are one-hundred years old, who deserve more kudos than Ronald Reagan – obviously this is another corporate media conspiracy inspired by fans of “the gipper”, a fictional movie character, to coincide with Super Bowl Sunday.
Pickhit: Congrats to the Green Bay Packers (who I picked, btw), my tele was quieter than ever in recent memory on a Super Sunday, however, and I missed being at my dearly departed friend Rodney’s “garagemahal” watching it (see my post “Ashes to….”); and – can we stop covering the personal lives of athletes past and present, please? We, who have any lives of our own to manage, do not care.
Sureshot: For those of us who “cut the cable”, it was very dramatic trying to find a stable stream of the Super Bowl game. I heard that if you searched for atdhe.net, an emblem and badge from Homeland Security appeared with the words “this domain has been seized…” Wow! Why did they comandeer them? Hmmm, people watched games there all season, why now? Maybe the greedy misguided Grinch, “Mr. Roger” (Goodell), made a phone call? Upon leaving church early this afternoon, the world had the feel of it seriously losing it’s grip. Several people died in January; two women who were close to me, including one of my two remaining Aunts on Mum’s side. Serious sadness among the madness.
World Premiere: My informal “poll” of the Egyptian tobacco/lottery/beer store owners in this city says NONE of them want to see Mubarak leave, and that the USA should stay out of events there. They tell me that this whole scenario is a ploy to install a bin Laden sympathizer “government” so that they can surround Israel, challenge the Saudis and then export the ideology of the whole world adopting their version of the muslim religion. You heard it here first. If I were President, we’d return to a version of “isolationism” that I learned in my ninth grade Social Studies class for a while. Take a deep breath, y’all. Peace.
