And now for something completely different for this blog: A Book Review!

First and personally, I am so proud to have finally found and tied into the public library here in the land of Spanish Moss. It always takes a while to humble myself again and do these things – maybe deep in my soul I should own a library! Oh I do, and it is just vinyl record albums. I digress again.

In the Autumn of 2017, I had three titles on my list of books to read and one of them was a no-brainer, when I heard about it, Maria Sharapova’s autobiography. I have always been one of her fans.
Why now? I knew I had to begin to read again because I was in a writer’s limbo, and you know that, as I stated in past blogs, in order to write well you have to read much. So let’s get to it!

I just finished reading Maria Sharapova’s first autobiography,“Unstoppable – My Life So Far” with Rich Cohen in record time (for me)! Masha (her real name in “Russian) weaves a compelling and enlightening story, with candid diary clips throughout that I could only put down to sleep, eat and run my own work errands. If you’ve ever wondered what life is like for a major player on the Women’s professional tennis tour as a girl becomes a woman, this autobiography is a must read and a real page turner.

It is the first sports autobiography I remember reading since The Roy Campanella story, as a teen, and more recently, “Namath” about my main New York Jets quarterback, whose style and ability I grew up admiring, although I must have read Mickey Mantle’s and others through the years.

I learned that we share admiration for Monica Seles, whose audible power release as she hit the ball (some call it a “grunt”, but it is more sexy than that to a man’s ears, believe me, I’ve had sex with many women who make the same sound when they orgasm) first turned my attention into women’s tennis back in the 1990s. Indeed, Ms. Seles’ story of rising as a teenager achieving stardom on one of the biggest stages in sport, the Pro tennis tour is similar to Ms. Sharapova’s!
The Author also emulates Lindsay Davenport, whose classy game I too came to admire and shows respect for another of my favorites to watch, Serbian, Jelena Jankovic`. We learn about her coaches and even a favorite brand of shoes in these pages.

She used what I call the “sandwich” format for this first part of telling about her life. Using this format allowed Ms. Sharapova to recount her life, so that the reader can get to know her better and it works. She started with the present unjust failed drug test scandal drama and then retraced how she got to this point, while setting up her feelings about going forward with her career and life. The major theme was to tell her side of the suspension story to help clear her name of being associated with doping and I commend her for that. Hell, the substance they flagged her for was not even on the list of illegals throughout 99% of her career, and something smells very fishy about how it was suddenly added. It is almost like the suspicion East Germans who were competing in the Olympics were under, back in the Cold War days.

There is a nice pictorial section mid-way through and I like how neutral her cover photo is and how she describes her relationship with her main motivator, Yuri, her father and their initial trek following the ugly Chernobyl, now part of Ukraine, melt-down, eventually into Sochi, Russia and on to Florida as unknowns when she was a little girl with a huge racket.

She speaks about what I have often wondered while following women’s tennis: her main nemesis, Serena Williams. Oddly, she only mentions her older sister, Venus once. I would have like to have read her comparison of their games.

My favorite quote is from her father, Yuri, who said, “When you let your brain overrule your gut, you screw up your life.” Wow, my mentor used that philosophy and so do I programming my radio shows and identifying hit music through the years! Even though I borrowed it from the library, I will gladly purchase it for my private hardcover collection once I move into my own home.
Nice job, tall lady!! Whatta twenty-first century Fox. You are a “hit” and I’d look up to you without insecurity, rating your book with five out of a possible 5 tennis rackets.

“Those without previous governing experience via public election need not apply, nor are eligible”

Its like any other job, if you do not have the experience, you cannot get hired!!

So what happened this last American election should serve as the major reminder to the electorate, Supreme Court of the United States of America and its legislative branches. Here yee, here yee: The most recent past election in 2016 should prove to all USA citizens that unless you have been elected and governed previously, you are unqualified to become elected to the highest office in the land, which is President. There should never again be a choice between “slim” and “none”. One reason that we do not get “great” candidates as in days past is because somehow, those covering them expect them to be “perfect” – and none of us are – getting into their pants! Yes, some transgressions should disqualify prior to Primaries. Last cycle, I am surprised the GOP didn’t dig-up the dirt on the reality TV candidate in order to expose him! I guess they just wanted to “win” at any cost to our national unity, trying to dumb-down the populace along the way.

Even the former Hollywood Actor, Ronald Reagan had been elected and served as the Governor of the great state of California prior to running for President of The United States. Let this be a warning to the “Oprahs” of the world: get some experience and do not be gloated into biting off much more than you can chew due to ego. I met Oprah at a nightclub called Stringfellows in New York City, circa 1990, and she impressed me as a snob. Might be nice to some, however I saw her boy, Steadman following dutifully a few steps behind her as opposed to being by her side as an equal. I was a radio personality in New York City at the time and she ignored me.

Whenever we have all of these “secret memos”, special prosecutors, marital infidelity against The First Lady, investigations into tampering, et al in the first year of a Presidency, impeachment hearings soon follow, as seen during my three score as a lifetime independent thinker.

Unlike any other position, the holder of the highest office in the nation of America, The United States, needs experience, self-control, maturity, coolness, a big-picture vision of the past, present and future peaceful planet in which we share with other nations and move forward in a spirit of help and unity to solve the difficult and unexpected decisions ahead. My ideal President is a war veteran, like my dad was or Colin Powell and Dwight Eisenhower and John F Kennedy, because in order to lead this nation into a war, you must have experienced the tragedy and human cost of it.

Vote for the favorite USA President of your lifetime or yore in the “comments”!

Now that you’ve flipped-out and over my previous 45rpm record post, I hope you enjoyed side one from inside the basement boxes! Therefore, can I drop some current science reflections upon you now and then leave you to marinate upon them, until we meet in the New Year, 2018? …Good.

As we come to the end of 2017, I know I have not blogged as much as in previous years and in-fact, the fantasy of “blogging” being a money-maker is dead. I am struck by the many misinformed conversations I have heard this year from a dumbed-down populace, which began during the first President Bush administration of the United States of America, in the late 1980s.

~ At the risk of sounding intolerant of younger generations, like my parents did, I want to point-out a few things so that if any are reading this who need my enlightenment, they shall have some, lol

~ My generation, “Baby Boomers” of which my birth year is one of the last thereof, was educated better than the successive ones, which seem to have been distracted by so-called “advances” in technology. The standards of manners, self-control (without drugs), developmental punishment, adherence to societal norms, rules and authority on the family level were much higher in my formative years. This made for a better dream and pursuit of happiness. None of us are perfect, mind you, but we knew our boundaries and respected one another on a more fascinating level.

~ The point of this piece is to charge those who originally unleashed this technological “Genie” from the bottle, to educate yours and our youths to not be addicted to it, so much as they stroll down a sidewalk, into an intersection, oblivious to their surroundings and into their own peril!!

~ Often, I hesitate to engage or write, feeling it will do no good. With the so-called “leaders” we have in play, annellation is the nearest possibility, therefore my words fall upon deaf ears.

~ Also, many I encounter do not listen in polite conversations anymore. They only hear while formulating their reply and rudely interject it prior to the other party finishing their sentence or thought!
Just the other day, while having a quick bite at a local O’Charlies, I overheard a convo between two twenty- something women who sounded like jaded old bags. Their list of phobias and “cant’s” outpaced their “cans”!

~ Especially when it came to travel: one says, “After one drink, if I feel a buzz, I am calling a cab no matter how close to my house I am!” Whaa? The other one expresses how they are afraid to take an AMTRAK train, “Because they always derail!” Huh? To which the young bartender says, “Oh no, I’m not flying either, because you never know who you are flying with!” Yeah, that “logic” applies to all transportation modes and even on the Interstate, chick! SMH These young ladies are running out of options! It is very sad! If I didn’t see them, I would have thought they were two old ladies, older than I am! I should have recorded this. People have always had phobias, yet I’ve never heard them by twentysomethings and so adamantly expressed! What I overhear as I make my errands are too many individuals who are so misinformed, drive impatiently (and too fast), are undisciplined, selfish and ill-mannered.
Many people are overly sensitive these days due to misguided political correctness run amuck.

~ Most seem all to ready to turn the other cheek now. Nobody wants to complain in apathy that nothing will change unless it is scandalous or sordid like bogus reality TV! It is pathetic, because real human complaints are the seed of positive revolutionary change in society! Is anybody emphasizing learning in History class these days?

~ Political Correctness, and the lack of the “tough love” my generation received, plus the de-emphasis of measured corporal punishment (spankings) has produced an off-center, marginal generation of undereducated perverts, freaks, woodchucks and pseudo-criminal idiots who are unscrupulous and who we all should fear and take measures help or thwart proactively. how’s THAT for an “entitlement program” proposal?

~ About Geopolitical things: Did Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson or Nixon engage in a rank-out sessions with North Vietnam’s Ho Che Min during the Vietnam War? No! So why is this Trump guy doing it? All he does is legitimize an illegitimate regime via childish taunts! Who is advising this guy, if anyone? Trump’s first October as President began and ended with senseless violence against innocent citizens in Las Vegas and New York City. His presence has increased many people’s frustration and anger levels, dangerously. We have not been this close to war since the Cuban Missile Crisis in the early 1960s! Kim Jung and President Fake are like two of the slowest learning, Special Ed kids in the back of the classroom, continuously chattering insults at each other, while the rest of us are trying to learn.

~ There are some things we still do not know and that recent groups of events are waaay too coincidental regarding all of these “sexual” allegations and the fall of so many of our (my) favorite public/media/entertainment personalities here at the end of 2017.

Why now? Why all of a sudden? Why doesn’t President Trump step aside while they investigate or at least be called to testify before Congress and answer to the charges against him by these women, like President Clinton had to? Ego and him wanting to be the first American Dictator is why, and we know it.

~ Were the Hunters Captured by the Game in ALL of these relationships?? Hmmmm…

~ Continue the discourse! Not just the usual suspects (although I appreciate you), don’t be too shy to say something about how we can have a better 2018 and beyond by hitting the ground running on January 2nd!!!
This is a milestone year for me, personally and let it be for thee.

Happy New Year! May we all survive safely and in Peace on earth to do this again a year from now! Cheers.

Upon a recent road trip, trying to find a place to chill into ebb (which is not easy these days at these prices), I grabbed a few of my historic, lifetime boxes from out of auspicious storage. One of them contained many magazines – my Playboy collection (!) – and papers, of which the list below was one. It was a print-out of an email sent to me upon the occasion of “Happy and Healthy 2002” on December 31, 2001. The paper is now gnarley at the top where the “from” would be and I tried to search up the email address, to no avail. So if you recognize yourself, please let me know in “comments” and I will qualify you to receive credit here.
Lets we see which of this list of “things to remember” are still relevant today as I transpose them and then I have some other beefs to vent in the second part of this, before the clock strikes midnight on December 31st and we transverse into the year of Our Creation, two-thousand and eighteen.

It begins:

“As we start the New Year…here are some things to remember…”

1. No one can ruin your day without YOUR permission.

2. Most people will be about has happy as they decide to be.

3. Others can stop you temporarily, but only you can do it permanently.

4. Whatever you are willing to put up with is exactly what you will have.

5. When your ship comes in…make sure you are willing to unload it.

6. Life is a journey…not a destination. Enjoy the trip!

7. The best way to escape your problem is to solve it.

8. I’ve learned that ultimately, ‘takers’ lose and ‘givers’ win.

9. Life’s precious moments don’t have value unless they are shared.

10. If you don’t start, its certain you will not arrive.

11. He or she who laughs…lasts.

12. Yesterday was the deadline for all complaints.

13. Look for opportunities…not guarantees.

14. Success is getting up one more time.

15. Now is the most interesting time of all.

16. When things go wrong…don’t go with them.

I’ll add (17) Voices never change. Not your “opinion”, but our vocal chords, unless afflicted with a malady, remain the song of our speech and communicative instrument, whether you use it for profit or not, throughout our lives, whether you gain weight or lose it. I will always use mine (written and spoken) to go “Isley Brothers” on who and whatever tries to bulls** me or those I care about, be you my few real friends or an acquaintance. (Flip the record over now, for part II).

I’ve dug this one since Labor Day 2017 and my forty-years of music radio mind knew it was a “hit” the first time I hear the loop on Kiss FM, Ukraine online! I probably am late to the table to dine upon the pleasure of a morsel of Katy, and yes am slightly out-of-touch more than when I was actively Jocking. This too can pass; the concept of this creativity is clever-forever. (hyphen nation)

The video speaks for itself, does not detract from the tune and plays to my inner punter, that I pray I have not left behind, who yearns to “spin again”for a live crowd of dance-hall fun-lovers real soon!

In this you hear…today’s Sexy sense of humor, punny, money and mouth-watering gold!
Major Props to Katy on so far she has come to over the adversities and insults such as being dropped from Def Jam’s roster. Who has the last laugh on this now, Russell Simmons? As the turntable turns…
‘Nuff Said! lol Love it. Love Katy! What a tasty morsel!!
Where is the broth?
I can use it for another dish!
Maybe fish.
Ummmm, I am smellin’ it.
She is now my phone’s ringtone.
“‘Cause I’m all that you want, boy
All that you can have, boy
Got me spread like a buffet
Bon appétit, baby…”

I’m turned-ON!

Enjoy and be sure to brush your teeth after eating.

How now, Brown cow…?

[Brown cow’ is an 18th century description for a barrel of beer. The saying probably originated as a way of calling for another round of drinks.

An early example can be found in Scottish author Allan Ramsay’s play The Gentle Shepherd (1725)]

“The auld anes think it best,
With the brown cow to clear their een,
Snuff, crack, and take their rest.
I know this will be what my generation deemed “corny”,
However. isn’t that part of a cow’s diet?”

Be that as it may, I elaborate this event with:

Brooklyn New York’s Prospect Park became an open-field zoo,
As residents kowtowed to his presence.

So I am at my office stall giving Goodwill,
Not exactly “chillin” in Charleston at the time;
When my smartfone tells me;
“Cow loose in Brooklyn”.
I laugh silently,
With no workplace privacy.
Then I hunt on ASK dot com about this.
Sure enuff it gives me three options for,
“Cow loose in Brooklyn”.
Lol it is where I am from, after all;
New York City is not used to live loose animals.
New Yorkers COWerd to the Bull.
I am farming a laugh now, and you?
Add yours in the “comments” section below, please.

I text my long-time professional friend who lives nearby,
“Hey was that your cow??
he goes, “What cow?”
“You didn’t hear about the cow running loose near you in Prospect Park?”
“Didn’t know. That’s crazy”
“Yep. I just emailed you the link to the video story,
It happened around noon today I think. Mooooo”

All of which begat the following,
Of my where is the “beefy” one-liners:

“Bullish on New York”
“NY is full of BULL”
New Yorkers COWering in Prospect Park at the sight of a loose cow”
“The local ABC news will Milk the situation”
Catell you something?
Another cash cow arrives in Brooklyn.
A first time Livestock update from Prospect Park!
Brooklyn Bulldozed by a loose cow.
Cow plows Prospect park bullshit standoff.

You must understand that this is very strange for “city slicker” New Yorkers to experience.
I loved it;
For me, a-flung native NYker
To see a light-hearted wild kingdom urban mystery unfold,
Was just the kind of distraction nature planned on-time.

We need more of this mostly positive and naturally non-political news,
Lest we stray from the herd and become livestock calves who succumb to the bullies.
Remember, we of Earth, are the best part of the Milky Way.
So, don’t have a cow, this post is over!

I feel sorry for today’s young people and am glad I do not have any; really never wanted because I noticed the onslaught of too many “mistakes” running around doing stupid things decades ago and even more, these days.

Take for example, the latest lunacy in the following story from earlier this week.

Recent generations’ obsession with posting dumb stuff on Facebook and Instagram sinks to a new low when an older sister crashes the car she, her sister and friend are joyriding in and all she can think to do is narrate it via livestream into the camera phone and post on Instagram instead of trying to get help or help save her dying sibling’s life or soothe her injuries. It is egocdentric madness begat by the scurge of reality TV!
Where are the parents who should have taught prioities at the dinner table to this little hussie?

In a statement they said, via her Public Defender Samrao, “They want her to come home, they’re not mad at her. They don’t blame her.” What? ‘Sounds like some errant political correctspeech. They also said, “she needs help.” No sh** Sherlock! That is what your job is dummy! Where were you and your wife all of her life? Smokin’ weed?? They should also serve prison time as accessories, IMO. To add insult to deathly injury the girl, Ms. Sanchez, had a prior reckless driving case as a juvenile. Nope, $560,000 bail not be reduced. She gloated and accepted “responsibility” on-camera, in a classic case of “no home training” and of course, “cried in court”. Tragic situation, yes and they can be avoided with educational prevention.

This lack of common sense is an epidemic. I have lost count of the times that I have heard about these young criminals posting their crimes on Facebook AS IF they don’t think that the Cops are checking there.

Some of my fellow Baby Boomer friends have a point when they refuse to use Facebook and other Social Media due to their belief that it is ‘a way for the CIAs of the country to “Big Brother” us orwellian-style’!
I say that the inventor of the camera and Alexander Graham Bell, of the telephone, would think it a priviledge and special talent to be a photographer and that everybody should not own a camera as now comes fashionably standard with a telephone!

Nyet, this young lady and those like her who post devious acts on Facebook and other social media have life totally backasswards and nobody is taking to school on it. News media report but do not teach why it is a wrong thing to have done because negativity (in their minds) sells sponsor’s products.
When will those to captain our social mores learn? Oh, that might take real old-fashioned education and pro-active punishment of our youth – heaven forbit that!

For example the leaders of Facebook, Instagram and Livestream could take ownership of this teaching moment AND perform a public service by disclaiming and cautioning these young, “cable-ready” generations NOT to share criminal acts under penalty of the cancillation of their accounts immediately!

No matter what the prision time Sanchez ultimately gets, she sentenced herself to lifetime of guilty feelings – if she has that much sense.

Let Achilliad know what you think about this kind of activity in “Comments”.

Major props to memories of these carefree daze and my radio Mentor, the late legendary terrestrial radio Program Director, Sonny Taylor, who loved this jam!
It is a CLASSIC theme-song that visits me every so often as a friendly reminder of better days gone by. If this long twelve-inch remixed version doesn’t get you moving, nothing will! Belita Woods on lead vocal really “belitaed it OUT!” lol Yes this is one of my “children” and I pray that I can get it out of storage soon and, along with you – TURN IT UP!

SINCE November of 2009, when I began this literary exercise at the behest of a college buddy, I have been able to opine in relative obscurity, save when one would search the “About” page and as “obscure” as one can be on the worldwide web. That is about to change with this post. Life is a race against time and “time” always wins in the end.

Six months ago, in the late summer of 2016, as I was being “downsized” or forced out of the latest copier sales “telemarketing” gig by one small partner at NY Digital Products, I accepted an offer to work for what I thought was the company who helped me self publish my three books since 2010, CreateSpace in Charleston, South Carolina. By the time I arrived in Charleston, they switched me to the Kindle “ebook” training platform – that was the first bad omen.Fast-forward to Thanksgiving, 2016 when I was still living “Airbnb-style”, from host-to host, unable to find suitable and affordable housing in a nice, diverse neighborhood as I had in Nashville, Tennessee in the 2000s, I ended-up in a trailer park in Goose Creek, South Carolina and almost had a “Deliverance” (classic movie starring Burt Reynolds) experience until Airbnb saved the day and suggested several potential hosts, one of whom became the lady who felt my frustration and pain at having to move from place-to-place for many months and took me in. I paid her $600/month through the winter since November 25, 2016 for the room (shown on this profile). In February, 2017, her estranged husband returned to the house and the vibe changed gradually until he made it clear recently that the lady was not the owner of the house, HE is and he wanted to throw me out as I had finally been offered two jobs to get away from the Amazon Kindle gig which, unfortunately for me, did not work out, but left me behind on the money I was paying to his wife by five hundred, which he wanted immediately or I had to leave by force. The lady worked with me and I was giving her partial payments to catch up. He wanted “all or nothing” and it came to a head on Sunday, April 3, 2017 when he threatened to “remove [me]” and upon the advice of my Attorney, I called the police, who came and told him that “it doesn’t work like that”, he’d have to begin eviction proceedings. I do not want that outcome nor this drama and yet, nobody seems to be able to help me with a stable and consistent salaried job nor loan yet!! This is why I turn to my tried and true crowdfinding. I want to get out by April 30 so I can establish a base from which I can grow income from my creative callings and eventually apply for Social Security retirement. However, I cannot be forced into the streets and I want to give the lady who had stood by my side despite her husband, some money on my way to better days.
“Just last night she said about her husband, “Soon he’s going to put his foot down and you have to go…” I have no place to “GO”… [I remember that moment with hidden horror – 11.22.2017]
I need your donation today and no amount is too small. I can reward you with complimentary copies of my three books or an autographed DJ picture from my radio days. Maybe you can conjure a “perk” from me that would inspire you to donate massively? Just let me know. THIS…is an emergency. These are VERY nervous times for me. Please help.

One of the founding fathers of rock & roll and a true pioneer has passed at the tender young age of 90. Charles Edward Anderson Berry or better known as Chuck Berry had such classic songs like “Maybellene”, ‘Johnny B. Goode” and “Roll Over Beethoven”, that inspired so many young kids in the 50’s to turn to a new style of music.

I was not a great fan of his, but I respect the influence he had on the music of the Baby Boomer generation.
