Dig it: When I was a teen back in 1968, it was huge for our parents to give us allowance money. Often we spent it to go to shows at the RKO ALden and Loews Valencia theaters in Jamaica, Queens New York.  I saw the Delfonics, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Delfonics who were one of the hottest soul groups of the day, perform this song, which was their theme song and otherwise know on their vinyl albums as “How Could You”, an ending theme to their sets on several occasions. The lights would dim to darkness except for one flood on the pianist who would introduce, with those first flouish of keystrokes, what would become the familiar last song refrain.

Mostly an instrumental until, from way off-microphone, William Hart would start wailing or “crying” the vamp; pleading the case toward the lost object of desire as he approached the edge of the stage, his presence growing louder as the music faded. If you are reading this and seasoned enough to rememeber same, please share your impressions in the comment section below.

This song returns to me, here on this New Year’s Eve 2015/2016, in retrospect of what I gean as yet another unrequited love affair’s disappointment as I prepare to shower and shave to be with friendly strangers with whom I can toast away the bitter and to better luck in the future and not have a lonely heart this time next year, but a real live, beautiful and sexy soul mate companion. God willing, in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen.

And that’s why they call me the Sad Face King.

Pick Hitt: Sadly, WordPress apparently is not offering its Bloggers a Year in Review for 2016! It is yet another example of one of the nice things in life that our online corporate administrators are withdrawing after getting us used to them! It Sux and is not about the “statistics”. Nyet, it is about the creatively fun way that WordPress presented this gift to us, lo these past years since I began to blog in 2009. If you know ofd another blog platform that has not thorwn the “baby out with the bathwater” and still is fun, please let me know because mayb e it is time to take my writing “business” elsewhere it is FUN and appreciated.

S novym godom or “Happy New Tear! The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for my blog.  Were you a participant or on the bench?  Thank you for stopping by.  Peace.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 3,100 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 52 trips to carry that many people.

Just when I had donned my grumpy Scrooge cap and given-up on the increasingly commercial “Christmas spirit”, Martha of So Much Moore Media back in good ole Nashville, Tennessee, sent me this little ditty for my opinion. When I read the title and saw “Santa Baby (You’ll Be Mine)”, I thought it would be another lame take-off on the original Eartha Kitt holiday hit. Boy was I in for a surprise with this mischievously playful, sexy down-home take on Christmas time by Leslie Cours Mather entitled, “Santa Baby (You’ll Be Mine)”.
So, with a “Ho, Ho, Ho and a “jingle, jingle, Jing”, a fresh, funky drum, catchy, surprisingly sassy new holiday song is launched. Leslie’s “Santa Baby” has already caught my attention as the latest, new holiday anthem and is a tune wedgie that I can’t get out of my head, snow or not. I also really dig the organ accompaniment and background singer shout-outs!

Leslie Cours Mather is the daughter of a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army. Born in Singapore, she has lived all over the world and even attended Vanderbilt University in Music City (Nashville) Tennessee. A chance business meeting introduced her to legendary producer / record executive Denny Diante, who put her back in Nashville with the “Wrecking Crew” at Blackbird Studios which is less than a mile from where I used to live there! The result of that meeting is the album, “COUNTRIFIED”, which is due to drop in 2016.

With influences ranging from Linda Ronstadt to Martina McBride and Trisha Yearwood, Mather presents a powerful vocal style that is uniquely her own and from which she sends us this musical Christmas present. Her eyes mesmerize on this ode to Mrs. Claus.
Check it out:

Leslie supports Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia and Lymphoma (TACL) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles among other philanthropic endeavors. Season’s Greetings!

I kiss this tune with five mistletoes because I believe it will become the needed, new timeless classic Country music addition to our Christmas music fare.

I played this song while a afternoon fill-in DJ for the late Jerry Bledsoe on WWRL AM 1600 radio, New York City, the original Black American music station in the nation, circa 1983 after doing the 2AM – 6 AM shift on North Haven, Connecticut’s WKCI/KC101FM. I really never knew what this song was about until now – domestic violence, which they did not have a name for back then. Songs come and go sometimes when you are a radio personality. I guess I did not have time to analyze every lyric and message. Sometimes you just like the “sound” of the hook of a hit record, it seems to topically fit your personal experiences and it sticks.

“Too Late” by Junior is on par with and, in my mind, the follow-up to the SMASH hit, “Mama Used to Say”, IMO.
I am humbled and shocked by my naivete` not originally knowing what this song was about. Until a few minutes ago, I thought it was about unrequited love and the breaking up of two lovers! When I heard it in my musical jukebox mind and found it finally on YouTube, it was always about her being “too late” because I have moved-on to another relationship. Yeah, Right! As-if I always had that control, lol.
That was what I was all about in the early 1980s. If I’d really listened to the vamp, “I don’t have to stay with you, I can take the kids and go” I might have gleaned a more clean analysis. Such is life.
I am blown away that this song was so far ahead of its time, preceding the “OJ Simpson trial” and all of the ancillary offshoots that precipitated the lame and unecessary reality television of today that has contributed to the dumbing-down of America that now permeates every aspect of society, from how people drive their cars to our manners and morality. I wonder now, was this Junior’s experience, growing up?

When he comes home intoxicated from the club
All the kids they go and snuggle up to mom
He starts shoutin’ again, and they start runnin’ again
This ain’t no life for them to lead

In her mind she knows she has to let him go
In the children’s eyes she sees the fear inside
How does she tell him, he won’t take nothin’
This ain’t no life for them to lead

Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go

In the morning when he wakes up from the couch
Not recallin’ what had happened the night before
He starts askin’ questions, he don’t get no answers
What the hell’s goin’ on in here

Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go

Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to

She starts saying she can’t take it no more
When he comes home he always beats her to the floor
This old line she’s givin’, hey, about them leavin’
He can’t take it at all

But it’s too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye (I just got to let you know)
Now’s my time to go (Yeah, yeah)

Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye
Now’s my time to go
Too late, too late, baby, bye-bye (Bye-bye)
Now’s my time to

Too late (Too late), too late, baby, bye-bye (Too late, yeah)
Now’s my time to go (I don’t want to be around you)
Too late, too late (I just got to take the kids and go), baby, bye-bye (Oh, no)
Now’s my time to go…”

subterfuge The excitement of President Obama’s first election has soured sufficiently now that I even notice that he is soft on radical Islam and Muslim extremists. Another Presidental politician’s shell game. It was nice that he became the first non-Caucasian American leader, yet I have never considerd him the “first black President” as so many have. He is not a Black American, in my opinion – he is just brown and not really “down” with us. He has done nothing to promote true Black American men during his tenure. He is a woman’s President.

As we commemorate Pearl Harbor Day here in 2015 I wonder how many people I drive next to daily or work with even know the importance of this day and how it is even more relevant now when juxtaposed against the backdrop of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the recent evil perpetuated by the barbarians in France that are spawned in its wake.
I agree with United States of America Presidential candidate, Mr Donald Trump, that we should sequester all “Muslims” who have come the USA in the past ten years or so and make them register as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt et.al did with the Japanese following the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941. We must stop the madness!

If you are going to immigrate to “the West” and in-particular, the United States, then you should dress as WE do. No burkas or other loose clothing that can conceal bombs or suicide vests allowed! Have we not learned this by now? Here at the the end of the year 2015, there is no longer a place for “politically correct” defense of my country. Ah, “politically correct” – a phrase created by the President William Clinton and his wife who is, not so coincidentally running for president in 2016 – another dumb move and I will move to another country if she and her band of idiots is elected.

We lost the fight after “9/11” and ever since the Camel Jockies are increasingly kicking our collective traditional asses with these cowardly surprise attacks upon innocent people trying to have a life – and for what gain? I am including Paris, France and all of the “NATO” winners of World War II in this. I am including Russia in this summation. Now is the time for the nations who built a positive world history in the wake of World War I and II and of the past three hundred years or more to conciliate a succinct Hiroshima/Nagasaki strategy to annihilate this annoying “Isshit” threat once and for all so that we can come back to at least an 1980s-style, Peace on Earth, collateral damage and all. They asked for it, we should give it to them! For our present and for your children’s future.

2015 Pick Hitts: A fashion trend which should end in 2016: “Hoodies”. They make you look suspicious, like a thug, “terrorist” or even like a Ku Klux Klansman (Citadel cadets). I have observed foolish guys who drive with them on inside their vehicles! Stupid – you cannot hear enough and it dulls your all of the senses you need to drive and avoid a wreck!
Hoods used to mean “thugs” or gangsters in the 1960s; Hooded sweatshirt were once only a functional item in our closets to be worn in bad weather! So lets return them to that status in 2016!

I long for the days when I could “sleep like a dead man”. Do you remember when you were a carefree kid and your sleep was sweet? I remember when I slept so deeply that I could not recall my dreams! Now, with so much shit on my mind daily, it is difficult to “quiet the mind” enough to sleep long and soundly – without “PM” drugs, lol Bring back the good old days! Is this what is it when you are over sixty and healthy – things like cuts and colds take two months to heal? I am sure that once I move to my next and final destination with my new wife and my music free from basement storage, I will have “sweet dreams are made of this” again. Pray for it – for all of us.

~ And finally, Dear network television and radio News Directors, Please find other words to use other than “terrorism”. It is so played-out that “terrorism: now reminds me of Halloween! There are so many other words that more accurately portray the barbaric violence of people blowing themselves up in the name of Allah or randomlyly shooting up innocents that you can use that would even galvanize we-the-people to rise up in-force to combat this meanace! Here are one-hundred-sixty-two of them https://www.powerthesaurus.org/terrorism

Oh, I forgot, you are in bed with the corporations who perpetuate this fear-mongering to improve your ratings. As TV sportscaster, Warner Wolf unsed to say, “Turn your set off there!”
